The DFW Hospital Council (DFWHC) announced today John Liddle will be the singer of the National Anthem during its 74th Annual Awards Luncheon on October 21 at the Irving Convention Center.

Liddle serves as a news anchor at NewsRadio KRLD 1080 AM. When not reporting for KRLD, he also has a passion for singing, having previously performed the National Anthem for the Texas Rangers, the Dallas Mavericks, the Dallas Stars, the Dallas Wings and the Panther City Lacrosse Club.

“I’ve been working alongside John Liddle now for almost three years while hosting ‘The Human Side of Health Care’ radio program at KRLD,” said Stephen Love, president/CEO of DFWHC. “He has a great reputation in the community with a very popular rendition of the National Anthem. We thought he would be a perfect fit for the Annual Awards Luncheon and we are looking forward to his performance.”

Growing up in Lewisville, Liddle’s 20-year radio career started at KNTU-FM at the University of North Texas (UNT) where he was the sports director. He learned the play-by-play craft under KRLD legend, Bill Mercer.

Liddle worked for KRLD from 2005-2008 before moving on to become the Sports Director for KWEY in Weatherford, Oklahoma. When his family moved back to Dallas, Liddle began working for KRLD again, moving to the newsroom in 2018 as a news anchor.

In his spare time, Liddle also serves as a local play-by-play voice with his assignments including SMU, UNT, Tarleton State and the Southland Conference.

Liddle will carry on a tradition at DFWHC’s Annual Awards Luncheon where regional talent performs the National Anthem, with past singers including Carrie Barton, the Dallas Street Choir, Freddie Jones, Jason Castro, Celena Rae and The Cactus Cuties.
