Tickets and sponsorships are now available to the DFW Hospital Council’s (DFWHC) 71st Annual Awards Luncheon on Tuesday, October 8 in the ballroom at the Irving Convention Center (new location).
This year’s event is themed “Remembering the Past to Shape the Future,” with Andy Stern, the managing director of Club Oaks Consulting, board member of AMN Healthcare and co-chair of Medical City Healthcare, to be the 2019 recipient of the Distinguished Health Service Award.
The luncheon’s keynote speakers will be none other than Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, the Pulitzer Prize-winning reporters of The Washington Post who broke the Watergate scandal in 1972. They will discuss the 45th anniversary of Watergate, their bestselling book “All the President’s Men” and how it pertains to today’s political climate.
Their discussion will be moderated by Bianca Castro, the anchor and reporter for NBC 5. Bianca has 10-plus years of reporting experience throughout Texas and Florida. Having grown up in Plano and graduated from Baylor University in Waco, she has reported locally at NBC 5 since 2014.
We hope you can join us as we honor the great healthcare leaders of North Texas, to also include Kyle Armstrong, president of Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – McKinney, as the Young Healthcare Executive of the Year; Bob Ferguson, former chair of Texas Health Resources, as the Kerney Laday, Sr. Trustee of the Year; and the chairs of the board of trustees of all DFWHC-member hospitals.
Carrie Barton will open the event with a performance of the National Anthem. A resident of Fort Worth, she has performed the National Anthem for sports teams across the country including the Los Angeles Dodgers, Texas Rangers, Houston Astros, Baltimore Orioles, Arizona Diamondbacks and the Kansas City Royals.
