DFW Hospital Council President/CEO W. Stephen Love commented on local coronavirus efforts during a segment last night on CBS 11.

With medical facilities in North Texas preparing for cases of the coronavirus to potentially arrive from China, CBS reporter Jason Allen detailed the work of UT Southwestern Medical Center.

“Knowing how we have an international community in DFW and somebody can be around the world within a matter of hours, an active team has made it a priority for the past week,” said Dr. Julie Trivedi, director of infection prevention of UT Southwestern.

A screening protocol developed during the Ebola virus is still in place, but is being modified for patients who might come in with a fever, coughing and shortness of breath, according to Trivedi.

“We feel confident we’re prepared if North Texas should have a patient with the virus,” said Love.
