The DFW Hospital Council’s (DFWHC) 70th Annual Awards Luncheon is set for Wednesday, October 17 in the main ballroom at the Arlington Convention Center.
This year’s event is themed “Charting the Course,” with Charlie Powell, the president/CEO of Ciera Bank and chairman of the board of JPS Health Network and Tarrant County Hospital District, to be the 2018 recipient of the Distinguished Health Service Award.
Alan Simpson, the spirited American politician who served as U.S. Senator of Wyoming from 1979-1997, will be the keynote speaker.
We hope you can join us as we honor the great healthcare leaders of North Texas, to also include Jyric Sims, chief executive officer at Medical City Fort Worth as the Young Healthcare Executive of the Year; and Jim L. Turner, the former chair of the board of trustees at Baylor Scott & White Health, as the Kerney Laday, Sr. Trustee of the Year. We will also honor the chairs of the board of trustees of all DFWHC-member hospitals to open the program.
Since 1948, DFWHC’s Annual Awards Luncheon has been an opportunity for North Texas hospitals to honor important friends of healthcare. The long-time DFW tradition has showcased internationally known personalities with past speakers including David Brinkley (1989), Henry Kissinger (1993), Margaret Thatcher (1997), Ted Koppel (2011) and James Carville/Mary Matalin (2012).
The Distinguished Health Service Award has been bestowed annually for 70 years to DFW-area residents including Larry James (2017), Margaret Jordan (2016), T. Boone Pickens (2012), Mayor Mike and Rosie Moncrief (2011), Ray and Nancy Ann Hunt (2009), Ross and Margot Perot (2008) and Jerry Gilmore (2007).
A reception will begin at 11:00 a.m. followed by the luncheon and awards from 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m.
