A TV segment titled “Pain meds shortage changing how North Texas patients are treated” aired last night on Channel 8 WFAA-TV and included comments from DFW Hospital Council President/CEO W. Stephen Love.
Reported by Teresa Woodard, the story focused on a nationwide shortage in pain medications and its local effects on hospital treatments and patients.
Love noted the DEA lowered the limits in 2017 regulating how many of these drugs pharmaceutical manufacturers could produce.
“They were doing that to be part of a solution,” Love said. “The DEA recognized that all of us have to be working on this opioid crisis.”
