08/21/2017

In a system document released on its website, Texas Health Resources presented to the public its Fifth Annual Community Responsibility and Sustainability Report on August 14. The annual report highlights the accomplishments of the system’s social responsibility programs and community health improvement initiatives.

The report noted Texas Health provided nearly $864 million in charity care and community benefits last year while also supporting $2.2 million in grants and sponsorships benefiting more than 300 nonprofits. The report also documents the progress Texas Health has made to enhance its workplace and environment of care, minimize its environmental impact and further strengthen organizational sustainability.

“We believe it is our social responsibility to improve the welfare of society through strategic community health initiatives, reliable access to care and innovation,” said Barclay Berdan, FACHE, CEO of Texas Health. “We will continue to transform health care as we pursue our mission of improving the health of the people in the communities we serve.”
