The DFW Hospital Council (DFWHC) has announced the appointment of Nancy Cychol, president of Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth, to its board of trustees for 2016. Cychol will fill the position formerly held by Doug Hock, who resigned in December after accepting a position at The Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia. Hock was formerly chief operating officer at Children’s Health System in Dallas.

“Nancy Cychol embodies the spirit of the North Texas healthcare community and we are excited to have her talent and energy at the DFWHC table,” said W. Stephen Love, president/CEO of DFWHC. “We are very fortunate to have her expertise as we work towards our healthcare goals in 2016.”

After joining Cook Children’s in 1984, Cychol held several leadership positions prior to her promotion to president in 2003. Before joining Cook Children’s, she was employed by Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis and Children’s Medical Center of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio.

As president, Cychol oversees operations of the 430-bed medical center and is responsible for more than 3,400 employees across 30 medical specialties and subspecialties. Under her leadership, Cook Children’s has become the home of a designated Level II pediatric trauma center, a Level IV neonatal intensive care unit, and one of the largest pediatric transport programs in the country.

Cychol received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in nursing and a Master’s degree in administration from Indiana University. She currently serves on the boards of American Heart Association, Cook Children’s Northeast Hospital in Hurst, the Cook Children’s Surgery Center in Plano and LifeGift.

Cychol and her husband John, who live in Southlake, have two sons, Ryan and Nicholas. Their son John IV is deceased.
