A national poll conducted last week by Mercer revealed more than 75 percent of the participating hospitals are shifting registered nurses from other areas of the facility to deal with the surge of patients from the coronavirus (COVID-19).
An Associate Member of the DFW Hospital Council (DFWHC), Mercer plans to conduct weekly polls to provide information to the health care industry during the COVID-19 crisis.
“Information is always helpful during this national outbreak,” said Stephen Love, president/CEO of DFWHC. “Work and payment strategies will be a challenge for the time being and we appreciate this detail provided by Mercer.”
The poll also indicated more than 63 percent of the hospitals are shifting non-nursing staff from other areas to assist. In addition, more than 82 percent of the hospitals are providing hazard pay to its nurses.
