The DFW Hospital Council (DFWHC) announced today that Holly Tucker will perform the National Anthem to open its 78th Annual Awards Luncheon on October 16 at the Loews Arlington Hotel and Convention Center.
Holly, who has been called the Angel of Texas Country Music, is tenaciously proving that great things are worth the wait. After winning the hearts of millions of television viewers on Season 4 of NBC’s hit music reality show, “The Voice,” Holly is leaving her boot print all over Texas Country Music and with fans worldwide.
Holly’s musical roots run deep. She is the youngest of 3 children born to Johnny and Cheryl Tucker, founders of the 80’s Christian band, Revised Edition. Holly grew up singing in church and performing on various stages at fairs, churches and festivals around Texas. From the young age of 14, Holly began her career as a recording artist. Her discography includes:
- • Her first full-length album entitled “It’s About Time” (2007)
• A second full-length album, “Love is What She Likes” (2010)
• Her breakout, full-length independent album, “Steel” (2016)
• Her two-part independent album, “You’re Gonna Know My Name” (2019).
During her 2013 appearance on “The Voice,” she rose to the Top 6 out of 40,000 auditioners. Holly, on Team Blake Shelton, was one of only 7 contestants that season to receive an impressive “4-chair-turn.” Her voice has been described by Coach Blake as “the most effortless, accurate, and powerful voice he’s ever heard,” and is one of Texas Country Music Association’s recent Female Vocalists of the Year.
This year’s Annual Awards Luncheon recipients will include:
- • Duncan Webb, former Chair of Medical City Plano and the Collin County Commissioner, with the Distinguished Health Service Award
• Barclay Berdan, the long-time CEO of Texas Health Resources, with the Boone Powell, Sr. Award of Excellence
• Graham Torres, the Vice President of Operations at Children’s Health, as the Young Healthcare Executive of the Year
• Rev. Ralph Emerson, the long-time board member of the Tarrant County Hospital District and JPS Health Network, as the Kerney Laday, Sr. Trustee of the Year.
An additional highlight will be Keynote Speaker Amanda Beard, an American swimmer and seven-time Olympic medalist. Beard was just 14 years-old the first time she made an Olympic appearance, often photographed clutching her teddy bear. Beard had the distinction of being the second-youngest American Olympic medalist in history. She is also an author, former model and mental health survivor.
