In a television segment last night detailing the local opioid shortage on CBS DFW Ch. 11 news, DFW Hospital Council President/CEO W. Stephen Love provided comments on what hospitals are doing to relieve the national difficulty.
According to Love, due to a cap placed on the production quota on opioids by the Drug Enforcement Administration, there’s a shortage in various parts of the U.S.
“The quota on the manufacturing of opioids was reduced by 25 percent in 2017,” he said. “In 2018, it was reduced by another 20 percent.”
Reporter Brooke Rogers also interviewed Dr. Glenn Hardesty of Texas Health Resources.
