DFWHC’s Love discusses North Texas healthcare collaboration in D CEO story

04/29/2021

“All the hospitals are realizing it’s not about competition. It’s about trying to improve the health of the community,” said Stephen Love, president/CEO of the DFW Hospital Council (DFWHC) in a D CEO story that dropped this week.

Titled “COVID-19 Brought Unprecedented Health System Collaboration to DFW” and penned by Will Maddox, the story detailed the unique efforts of the hospitals in North Texas when working together during a time of crisis. From the 2014 Ebola outbreak to the recent COVID-19 pandemic, the story highlighted the cross-system calls between area hospital leaders when discussing the best solutions to address community safety.

“To me, those were not competitors on the other end of the phone,” says Dr. Martin Koonsman, chief medical officer at Methodist Health System. “They were medical colleagues who were all tackling the same virus and doing their very best to keep patients and staff safe.”

As noted in the feature, “Systems continue to speak with a united voice through DFWHC about expanding Medicaid, addressing Texas’ growing uninsured population, and other critical issues.”
