Dallas Street Choir performs at Carnegie Hall

The Dallas Street Choir at DFWHC’s 2016 Annual Awards Luncheon.


The Dallas Street Choir, a North Texas musical outlet for the homeless and disadvantaged, performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City on Wednesday evening, joining 17 residents of a Manhattan homeless shelter. Never in the 126-year history of the storied hall has a musical ensemble of homeless performers appeared at Carnegie, said the hall’s archivist, Gino Francesconi.

The Dallas Street Choir, a recognized 501(c)(3) organization, was founded by Dr. Jonathan Palant in 2014. To date, over 1,200 individuals have attended the weekly rehearsals amassing more than 8,000 hours of cultural enrichment.

The Dallas Street Choir performed the National Anthem during the DFW Hospital Council’s 68th Annual Awards Luncheon on Oct. 18, 2016.
