Texas Woman’s University (TWU) will be hosting a Doswell Conference on “Connected Communities: The Role of Health Informatics” on Friday, April 5 from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the TWU campus in Dallas.

Health informatics uses information technology to organize and analyze health records to improve outcomes. It deals with the resources, devices and methods to utilize acquisition, storage, retrieval and use of information in health and medicine. Healthcare informatics provides electronic access to medical records for patients, doctors, nurses, hospital administrators, insurance companies and heath information technicians.

Speakers will include Dr. Steve Miff, president/CEO of Parkland Center for Clinical Innovation; Dr. Marisa Wilson, senior scientist at The University of Alabama at Birmingham; and Nora Belcher, executive director of Texas e-Health Alliance in Austin.

An optional two-day conference will also take place April 3-4, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with only a limited number of seats available.
