A celebration of great North Texas hospital employees, the DFW Hospital Council Foundation’s 20th Annual Employee of the Year Luncheon is set for April 27 in the main ballroom of Irving Convention Center. This year’s theme is “Do Great Things!” with Derreck Kayongo serving as keynote speaker. Kayongo is a famous business visionary and the founder of the Global Soap Project. Kayongo fled civil war in Uganda and settled in the U.S. when he was ten years old. Now a successful entrepreneur, he is a renowned expert in global health. The Global Soap Project takes donated, reprocessed hotel soap and redistributes it to vulnerable populations around the world. Currently, more than 5,500 hotels in 90 countries participate, with more than two million bars donated to recent victims of earthquakes in Haiti.
Nominees are separated into four categories including hospitals with 0-99 beds, hospitals with 100-250 beds, hospitals with 251-499 beds and hospitals with more than 500 beds. Two recipients are selected from each category. Additional honors include the Community Service Award, Physician Award, the Hospital System Award, the Volunteer Award, the Preceptor Award and the Rex McRae Scholarship.
