A national leader in long-term acute care, LifeCare Hospitals officially joined the Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council after a unanimous vote by the board of trustees last month. Based in Plano, the LifeCare Family of Hospitals includes both freestanding and “hospital-in-hospital” acute care hospitals designed to treat medically complex patients who require acute care hospital services for an extended period of time. The network includes 26 hospitals in nine states. With LifeCare Hospitals of Dallas, Fort Worth and Plano welcomed as members, the total number of DFWHC hospital members in North Texas is now 88.
“We are excited to have LifeCare Hospitals become a member of the DFWHC team,” said W. Stephen Love, president/CEO of DFWHC. “Their advice on post-acute collaboration will be a valuable addition to the region’s knowledge.”
LifeCare was established in 1992 to provide a better chance at recovery for patients with severe injury or acute illness. Founded by a team of seasoned healthcare executives, including a former intensive care nurse, its principles have served as a roadmap to success for patients. The company is led by an executive team with more than 150 years of combined experience in managing hospitals and other ancillary service providers.
