Jon R. Roth selected as new CEO of the Dallas County Medical Society

10/24/2019

The Dallas County Medical Society (DCMS) announced that Jon R. Roth, MS, CAE, has been selected as its new executive vice president and chief executive officer. Roth will become just the fourth executive vice president in the 143-year history of DCMS.

“Jon impressed everyone with his expertise, his leadership ability and his clear and thoughtful communication style. He is personable, enthusiastic, and eager to get to know our organization and members. We feel Jon will be an excellent fit with DCMS, and we are delighted he will be joining the DCMS family,” said DCMS Board Chair/Immediate Past President Ruben L. Velez, MD.

Roth replaces former DCMS CEO Michael Darrouzet, who stepped down after 21 years to serve as the new CEO of the Texas Medical Association in Austin.

A native of Colorado, Roth earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Colorado, in Greeley, CO and his master’s degree at the University of San Francisco. He also achieved the Certified Association Executive credential from the American Society of Association Executives. Roth has served as president in the National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations and California Society of Association Executives.

Roth has an extensive background in healthcare association management, having served most recently as CEO for the California Pharmacists Association (CPhA), the largest statewide pharmacists society in the country. He will bring a strong background in legislative advocacy, strategy and communications. His advocacy work was recognized nationally, and his communications skills allowed for the successful transition of the CPhA’s quarterly magazine publication to a nationally distributed, scientific peer-reviewed journal.

Roth will start his new role early in 2020.

“It is my honor and privilege to join DCMS in serving the incredible physician members of Dallas County,” he said. “As an association professional who has worked with several allied health professions that collaborate with physicians, I am excited to now work directly with physicians as the head of the healthcare team. This opportunity is a wonderful mix, allowing me to bring forward my two decades of health care association experience with the opportunity to support physicians in their practices for the betterment of the patients they serve.”

Jon and his wife Jennifer are parents to Macy and Jack. They are looking forward to making Dallas their new home.
