The DFW Hospital Council announced today that Freddie Jones will perform the National Anthem during its 69th Annual Awards Luncheon, October 31 at the Arlington Convention Center. Jones is a popular jazz musician in the DFW area known for his performances prior to the Dallas Cowboys’ games at AT&T Stadium.
Jones has been a jazz trumpet player and composer in the Metroplex for over a decade. His band the Freddie Jones Jazz Group has performed throughout the southwest including Austin’s The Elephant Room to Little Rock’s Riverfront Auditorium. He has performed internationally in Paris, The Hague and Rotterdam. Jones has also recorded multiple CDs including “My Father’s House,” “Your Last Movie” and “All Day.”
“We are thrilled to have Mr. Jones perform at our Annual Awards Luncheon,” said W. Stephen Love, president/CEO of DFWHC. “His performances of the National Anthem before the Dallas Cowboys’ home games have become legendary. We are looking forward to his appearance.”
Raised in Memphis, Tennessee, Jones is a graduate of the University of North Texas music program. He has performed the National Anthem on solo trumpet before every home game since 2013. He also founded the nonprofit Trumpets4Kids, an organization that uses music as a tool to help children learn and shape their lives.
In addition to Jones’s performance, DFWHC will honor Larry James of CitySquare with the Distinguished Health Service Award. Additional honorees include Fraser Hay as the Young Healthcare Executive of the Year and Anne. T. Bass as the Kerney Laday, Sr. Trustee of the Year. Ann Curry, the former NBC news anchor and co-host of the Today show, will serve as keynote speaker.
