The DFW Hospital Council (DFWHC) has decided to go “Radio Ga Ga” throughout 2020 when it will host the weekly radio program “The Human Side of Healthcare” on KRLD 1080 AM.
The program, airing every Sunday from 1:00-2:00 p.m. and 7:00-8:00 p.m. CDT, showcases the activities of North Texas hospitals. The weekly broadcasts will run for 52 weeks throughout the year.
“We thought it would be a great idea to spread the word on the many projects of our North Texas hospitals,” said Stephen Love, president/CEO of DFWHC. “This radio program will touch upon such topics as chronic illness, social drivers of health and children’s healthcare. The sky’s the limit.”
Since the COVID-19 outbreak in March, the program now devotes a weekly segment to provide updates on the hospitals’ tenacious efforts to battle the pandemic in the metroplex.
KRLD 1080 AM serves the DFW Metroplex and North Texas with a news/talk radio format. It is a Class A station broadcasting at 50,000 watts, the maximum power allowed for American AM stations. It has a listening range covering a 30-county area of North Texas, Central Texas and Oklahoma. It is also broadcast nationwide on Radio.com.
On a weekly basis, Love (above photo, left) works with Thomas Miller (above photo, right), a broadcast journalist at KRLD, to develop the programming. Each one-hour broadcast includes at least three separate topics.
Special guests have included hospital executives from every major system in North Texas, mayors, senators and community leaders.
