IRVING, TX – The spirit of the radio is alive and well at the DFW Hospital Council (DFWHC) as it was announced today its weekly program “The Human Side of Health Care” will continue in 2021 on NewsRadio KRLD 1080 AM.
The DFWHC Board of Trustees approved the continuation of the radio broadcast during its November meeting. The weekly program, airing Sundays from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 8:00 p.m., CDT, has showcased the activities of North Texas hospitals during a busy 2020. The broadcasts have run continuously for more than 50 weeks.
“More than the radio program itself, it was the spirit in those broadcasts provided by our guests that was so inspiring,” said Stephen Love, president/CEO of DFWHC. “Due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the program became an important forum to create awareness. We believe it is important to continue to provide this service to the North Texas community.”
During the past year, “The Human Side of Health Care” has hosted more than 100 guests to include hospital executive officers, medical physicians, therapists, professors and bestselling authors conversing on such topics as chronic illness, social determinants of health, children’s health care and COVID-19 safety measures.
“In this especially trying year, we’re proud to leverage our station’s scale both locally in Dallas-Fort Worth and nationally via RADIO.COM to provide listeners with essential and vital information needed to get through this difficult time,” said Brian Purdy, regional president and market manager, Entercom Dallas – Fort Worth. “Radio is a lifeline and we aim to serve as a trusted source of information for our community, and this partnership with the DFWHC will allow us to amplify their important mission to a wider audience.”
An Entercom station, NewsRadio KRLD 1080 AM serves the DFW Metroplex and North Texas with a news/talk radio format. It is a Class A station broadcasting at 50,000 watts, the maximum power allowed for American AM stations. It has a listening range covering a 30-county area of North Texas and Oklahoma. It is also broadcast on Radio.com, which is heard nationwide.
Love will continue to work with Thomas Miller, co-host and broadcast journalist at KRLD, to develop the upcoming year’s programming. Each one-hour broadcast is expected to include three separate topics. Programs will be posted online on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Google Play, iHeart Radio and YouTube.
“We want to showcase the extraordinary work being done in our hospitals and communities,” Love said. “We will continue to work with North Texas hospital executives to determine guests and topics for each program. In addition, we will continue to create awareness on the difficulties of COVID-19 while emphasizing that we must continue to wear masks, practice social distancing and wash our hands.”
