In an interview posted in today’s Newsweek magazine, DFW Hospital Council President/CEO Stephen Love dispelled several rumors on supposed ICU bed shortages in Texas.

In the article penned by Katherine Fung, Love stated that data associated with the Department of Human and Health Services does not reconcile with the daily numbers he is receiving.

“I checked last night and out of a 19-county area, one particular county had the second-highest number of available staffed adult ICU beds in our North Texas region,” said Love, despite figures from last week that showed few beds were left in that county.

“We never want to cause unnecessary alarm or fear based on data that is not interpreted correctly,” he said.
