Serving as an Emerald Table Sponsor, executives of the DFW Hospital Council (DFWHC) attended the Fort Worth Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce’s (FWMBCC) 39th Annual Awards Luncheon on Saturday at the Hilton Fort Worth. The festive event was highlighted by Dr. Patrice Harris, president of the American Medical Association, serving as keynote speaker.

Dr. Harris is the first African American woman president in the history of the American Medical Association. Her presentation “Physicians and the Business Community: Partners in Solving Health Care Challenges” received a standing ovation.

More than 600 attendees were present with Lillie Biggins, the former president of Texas Health Harris Methodist Fort Worth Hospital, and Norma Roby, a board member of Medical City Healthcare, serving as event chairs.

“Lillie Biggins served as the Chair of our Board of Trustees in 2016,” said W. Stephen Love, president/CEO of DFWHC. “We wanted to show support for not only the great work she does for the community, but the value FWMBCC brings to North Texas.”

The Tarrant Regional Water District received the Community Partnership Award while Fort Worth Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Ken Paredes Scribner was honored with the Chairman’s Award.

Texas Health Resources was the Presenting Sponsor of the event, with Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price providing the official welcome and Texas Health Resources’ CEO Barclay Berdan introducing the speaker.
