The DFW Hospital Council (DFWHC) and Warrior Centric Health webinar “Elephant in the Waiting Room: The BIG Quality & Safety Issue You’re Overlooking” originally broadcast on February 20 has been posted online.

America’s military veterans, national guard, reservists and their families comprise one of the nation’s largest and most at-risk populations. Because of their experiences, this Warrior Community emerges from service with gaping physical and mental health disparities. While you might assume they get their healthcare through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), most do not. They are in commercial health facilities, few of which screen for military service. Fewer still are prepared to treat their “invisible wounds.” The result: health disparities, sub-optimal care, high readmission rates and sometimes tragic consequences. During the webinar, speakers discussed how commercial healthcare systems can meet this healthcare challenge by re-imagining it as an opportunity.
