DFWHC and East Texas A&M webinar “AI’s Impact on Healthcare” set for Sept. 3!

08/20/2025

The DFW Hospital Council (DFWHC) and East Texas A&M University will co-host the webinar “Promises, Pitfalls and Pressures: AI’s Impact on Healthcare and Public Health” on Wednesday, September 3 from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., CDT.

Speakers will include Dr. Elizabeth Wachira, an Associate Professor and Director of the Public Health Program at East Texas A&M University; and Stephen Love, President/CEO of DFWHC.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly entering the healthcare space, shaping how hospitals predict patient needs, manage staffing and even capture social determinants of health. But there are pitfalls. AI models trained on biased data can reinforce inequities, clinicians risk over-reliance on automated tools, and safety-net hospitals may be left behind. This webinar will explore the pitfalls and pressures of AI using real-world examples from recent research and current events. We will also discuss why preparing leaders through interdisciplinary programs is critical to ensure these tools advance equity, reduce costs and build healthier communities.
