The Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council (DFWHC) announced today David Biegler will receive the Kerney Laday, Sr. Trustee of the Year Award to be presented at the Annual Awards Luncheon, October 29 at Arlington Convention Center. The award was named in memory of Kerney Laday, Sr., who served on the Texas Health Resources Board of Trustees for 10 years. He was chair of the board when he passed away in September, 2012. The inaugural award was presented to his family in 2013.
The chair of Children’s Health System of Texas Board of Directors, Biegler’s association with Children’s Health began in 1987 when he was appointed to the board of the Children’s Medical Center Foundation. In 2000, he was named to the board of Children’s Medical Center Dallas. Under Biegler’s tenure, Children’s Health has expanded to include a second academic medical center, 19 pediatric practice locations and a new research institute. Biegler has also served as chair of the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce and the United Way Foundation.
“David Biegler has given his time and talent generously to support healthcare in North Texas,” said W. Stephen Love, president/CEO of DFWHC. “His guidance, direction and support of his community through his service to multiple hospital boards and foundations make him a worthy recipient of this award.”
In addition to honoring Mr. Biegler, DFWHC will present the Distinguished Health Service Award to Dr. Merlyn Sayers, the president/CEO of Carter BloodCare; and the Young Healthcare Executive of the Year Award to James Mendez, CEO of Kindred Hospital Dallas. Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jon Meacham will serve as keynote speaker.
The event is sponsored in part by CampbellWilson, LLP. Tables of 10 are $1,100. Individual tickets are $150. For information, please contact Kristin Alexander or Chris Wilson at 972-719-4900.
