Will Daniel, MD, Esmaeil Porsa, MD and Xavier Villarreal have joined the Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council (DFWHC) Board of Trustees effectively immediately. Dr. Daniel is the vice president and chief quality officer at UT Southwestern Medical Center, Dr. Porsa is the executive vice president and chief strategy and integration officer at Parkland Health & Hospital System and Villarreal is the chief executive officer of Medical City North Hills in North Richland Hills.
The appointments follow the July resignation of Brett Lee as chair of the DFWHC Board. Lee, formerly the chief executive officer of the North Texas markets of Tenet Healthcare Corporation, had accepted a position at Capital Senior Living Corporation, effective August 14. Scott Peek, chief operating officer at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas, will step into the role of DFWHC Chair.

Dr. Daniel joined UT Southwestern in 2016. He formerly served as the vice president and chief quality officer at Saint Luke’s Health System in Kansas City, Missouri, where he provided medical executive leadership to a network of 10 hospitals. A cardiologist, he joined Saint Luke’s Cardiovascular Consultants in 1998. In addition to patient care, he served as the medical director for quality, clinical operations and Electronic Medical Records. He became Saint Luke’s VP in 2013.
Dr. Porsa most recently served as Parkland’s interim chief medical officer. He was formerly the senior vice president for academic and professional affairs and associate chief medical officer at Parkland. In that role, he oversaw the Medical Affairs and Graduate Medical Education divisions and represented medical interests with Parkland’s administrative leaders. In addition, he served as Parkland’s medical director for “Jail Health,” where he was responsible for overseeing the health and well-being of the Dallas County jail’s inmate population.
Villarreal assumed his CEO position at Medical City North Hills in 2016 following the retirement of Randy Moresi, who served 25 years in that capacity. With 18 years of healthcare leadership experience, Villarreal was formerly the vice president and chief operating officer of CHRISTUS Spohn Shoreline and Memorial Hospitals in Corpus Christi. Prior to CHRISTUS, he served for seven years as the CEO of Navarro Regional Hospital, a 162-bed acute care hospital in Corsicana, and as COO at Abilene Regional Medical Center in Abilene.
