The DFW Hospital Council (DFWHC) announced today Celena Rae would perform the National Anthem to open its 75th Annual Awards Luncheon on October 27 at the Irving Convention Center.

A multi-faceted performer, Celena is the in-arena host and national anthem singer for the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League. She also serves as the official game host for the Dallas Cowboys.

Her talent for music led her to be named a top-ten female finalist on “American Idol” in 2004. Celena has also performed with country music stars Brad Paisley, Andy Griggs, Miranda Lambert, Tracy Lawrence, Los Lonely Boys, Sara Evans and Pat Green.

“We were thrilled Celena Rae was available to perform the National Anthem at our Annual Awards Luncheon,” said Stephen Love, president/CEO of DFWHC. “She will carry on a long-time tradition dating back several decades. I have always been a fan of her singing at Dallas Stars’ games, and we are looking forward to her performance.”

In addition to singing, Celena is an accomplished actress. Her film credits include “The Last Whistle” and “Always on Time.” She has starred in the series “In the Gap” and was host of “DFW’s Ultimate.” In addition to her film roles, Celena has performed on stage portraying Rosie in “Pure Country” at the Casa Manana theatre in Fort Worth.

Rae will carry on a tradition at DFWHC’s Annual Awards Luncheon where regional talent performs the National Anthem, with past singers including John Liddle, Carrie Barton, the Dallas Street Choir, Freddie Jones and Jason Castro.

This year’s event will be highlighted by the appearance of Jane Pauley, anchor of “CBS Sunday Morning,” serving as keynote speaker. Her Q&A presentation will be moderated by Cynthia Izaguirre, news anchor at WFAA Ch. 8.

Former Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams will be this year’s Distinguished Health Service Award recipient, with the Young Healthcare Executive of the Year and Kerney Laday, Sr. Trustee of the Year to be announced August 14.

Sponsored in part by Hall Render and FORVIS, the event’s reception begins at 11:00 a.m., followed by the luncheon and awards from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. Sponsorships and tickets are now available.
