A look back at 1983 with Douglas Hawthorne

11/13/2014

In honor of this evening’s tribute to Douglas Hawthorne at the the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) of North Texas’ Membership Meeting at The Adolphus Hotel in Dallas, the Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council (DFWHC) would like to do a special “Throwback Thursday.” Hawthorne, the long-time president of Texas Health Resources who stepped down this year, was originally to be honored during DFWHC’s Oct. 21 Annual Awards Luncheon, but the event was cancelled due to the Ebola response in the metroplex.

The throwback photograph is from DFWHC’s 1983 Annual Awards Luncheon in which Mr. Hawthorne (right), the chair of the DFWHC Board of Trustees, served as master of ceremonies. He is seated with Gib Lewis (middle), the Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives, and Perry R. Bass (left), the Distinguished Health Service Award recipient. Fort Worth’s Bass Performance Hall was named after him.

The ACHE of North Texas event will begin with a reception at 6:00 p.m. followed by the dinner and presentations from 7:00-9:00 p.m. A special video on his career will be included in the presentation. For more information, please click here.
