In a news segment last night on NBC 5, DFW Hospital Council President/CEO Stephen Love was interviewed by Scott Friedman on the potential spread of COVID-19 to rural communities.
Love said urban North Texas hospitals have considered the impact of rural patients should COVID-19 spread to their communities. Many rural locales have only a few ICU beds and in some cases, such as Van Zandt county, no hospitals.
“We are looking at that and we are considering that,” Love said. “Rural counties could be impacted in some ways more dramatically than we would.”
