DESCRIPTION:It is with great regret the DFW Hospital Council (DFWHC) Foundation announced today the cancellation of the in-person segment of the 24th Annual Employee of the Year Luncheon scheduled for September 16 at the Hurst Conference Center.\n\nWhile the Luncheon has been cancelled\, virtual recognition of hospital employees and award recipients will still take place\, with a video to be created honoring the many healthcare heroes working so diligently during the COVID-19 pandemic.\n\n“In discussions with our board of trustees\, we decided it was in the best interest for all involved if the Employee of the Year Luncheon was cancelled due to the COVID-19 virus\,” said Jennifer Miff\, president of the DFWHC Foundation. “This was not an easy decision\, as it has never been more important for us to honor our North Texas healthcare heroes working tirelessly during this pandemic. Since the luncheon attracts approximately 800 attendees\, we believe in the current COVID-19 environment such a gathering would not be a good public health decision.”\n\nThe 100-plus nominees provided to the DFWHC Foundation team will still be judged and awarded. Announcements and a virtual video honoring these hospital employees will be available in September.\n\nNew\, decreased sponsorship packages have been developed with recognition to be provided during the virtual video celebration. The weekly broadcasts will run for 52 weeks throughout the year.\n\n“We thought it would be a great idea to spread the word on the many projects of our North Texas hospitals\,” said Stephen Love\, president/CEO of DFWHC. “This radio program will touch upon such topics as chronic illness\, social drivers of health and children’s healthcare. DESCRIPTION:Drum roll please! The award recipients of the DFW Hospital Council (DFWHC) Foundation’s 24th Annual Employee of the Year Luncheon have been chosen and will be announced in a virtual video to be dropped on Monday\, September 21\, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic\, the in-person Luncheon was cancelled in June.\n\n“Our Board of Trustees decided it was in the best interest for all involved if the Employee of the Year Luncheon was cancelled due to COVID-19\,” said Jennifer Miff\, president of the DFWHC Foundation. “But it has never been more important to honor our North Texas hospital employees – our healthcare heroes – working tirelessly during this pandemic. We would like to congratulate all of the nominees and recipients with this virtual video tribute.”\n\nThis year\, more than 130 nominees were submitted by more than 50 North Texas hospitals. There will be 15 recipients honored during the video presentation\, with each nominee also acknowledged. Financial awards and trophies will be mailed to each recipient. The categories include:\n\n•	Employee of the Year\, hospitals with 1-99 beds;\n•	Employee of the Year\, hospitals with 100-250 beds;\n•	Employee of the Year\, hospitals with 251-499 beds\n•	Employee of the Year\, hospitals with 500-plus beds;\n•	Special Recognition\, hospitals with 1-99 beds;\n•	Special Recognition\, hospitals with 100-250 beds;\n•	Special Recognition\, hospitals with 251-499 beds;\n•	Special Recognition\, hospitals with 500-plus beds;\n•	Community Service Award;\n•	Preceptor of the Year;\n•	Physician of the Year;\n•	Volunteer of the Year;\n•	Rex McRae Scholarship;\n•	ACHE North Texas Scholarship.\n\nBoard members of the North Texas chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) judged the nominations in August. Individual and hospital names were removed in advance and selections were based entirely on the facts presented within the form letter.\n\nFor 24 years\, the Employee of the Year Luncheon has honored more than 1\,300 exceptional hospital employees from across North Texas. DESCRIPTION:Set your radio dials on September 23 for the two-hour broadcast “I’m Listening\,” a program to inspire community awareness on depression while highlighting National Suicide Prevention Month. For the third straight year\, the event will be locally sponsored by the Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council (DFWHC) in a continuation of its mental health and substance misuse efforts in the community.\n\nThe live broadcast will air commercial-free from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on local Entercom radio stations 100.3 Jack FM\, 105.3 The Fan FM\, 98.7 K-LUV FM\, Alt 103.7 FM and 1080 KRLD AM. A Spanish language broadcast will also air on 107.5 La Grande FM.\n\n“DFWHC and Entercom wants to remove the stigma of seeking help for behavioral health and substance use disorders. We are proud to continue to participate in this campaign to prevent suicide\,” said Stephen Love\, president/CEO of DFWHC. “The program will include local medical professionals who will share personal stories and resources. Our goal is to ultimately save lives.
