SUMMARY:Hall Render webinar "Alignment Strategies in the Pandemic Era"
DESCRIPTION:Hall Render\, an Associate Member of the DFW Hospital Council\, will be hosting the educational webinar “Hospital & Physician Alignment Strategies in the Pandemic Era” on June 24 at 1:00 p.m. CDT.\n\nThe COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc on the financial viability of many independent physician practices across the country. Today’s practices are in survival mode and many are seeking a lifeline. One survey shows that 45% of primary care physicians reported staff furloughs or layoffs\, and that 28% have deferred or skipped salaries. Even fiercely independent practices may now be weighing their options for a closer relationship with a hospital\, health system or a transition into a private equity-backed group. Unfortunately for some\, the group may already be breaking up due to the financial stress caused by the pandemic.\n\nJoin Hall Render attorneys Arthur deVaux\, Colleen Powers and Steve Pratt for a webinar that will highlight various strategies that can be implemented to help support these private practices and create greater alignment. \nYou can register here.

SUMMARY:HCCS and DFWHC webinar "COVID-19 Coding Challenges"
DESCRIPTION:The DFW Hospital Council (DFWHC) will be co-hosting a webinar with HCCS HIM Services on June 25 to detail “COVID-19 Coding Challenges and Opportunities” from 10:00 a.m. To 11:00 a.m. CDT.\n\nOne of the many disruptions wrought by COVID-19 on hospital finances are coding\, documentation and compliance changes. Two such changes are appropriate telehealth coding and revenue recovery resulting from Medicare’s waiver of cost sharing for COVID-19 testing.\n\nOne of the early regulatory changes stemming from COVID-19 was the loosening of restrictions on Medicare payment for telehealth services. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has new authority to waive geographic and location requirements for telehealth reimbursement while the declared national public health emergency is in effect. The list of approved telehealth services is also expanded as is the list of health care professionals eligible to bill Medicare for telehealth services.\n\nHCCS works with hospitals to ensure coding integrity and compliance with changing rules and requirements governing telehealth\, Medicare cost sharing and other policies.\n\nYou can register here.\n\nFor information\, please contact Abby Bobo at 512-813-7667 or abobo@aesllc.org.

SUMMARY:DFWHC and KRLD’s “The Human Side of Health Care”
DESCRIPTION:The DFW Hospital Council (DFWHC) has decided to go “Radio Ga Ga” throughout 2020 when it will host the weekly radio program “The Human Side of Healthcare” on KRLD 1080 AM.\n\nThe program\, airing every Sunday from 1:00-2:00 p.m. and 7:00-8:00 p.m. CDT\, showcases the activities of North Texas hospitals. The weekly broadcasts will run for 52 weeks throughout the year.\n\n“We thought it would be a great idea to spread the word on the many projects of our North Texas hospitals\,” said Stephen Love\, president/CEO of DFWHC. “This radio program will touch upon such topics as chronic illness\, social drivers of health and children’s healthcare. The sky’s the limit.”\n\nSince the COVID-19 outbreak in March\, the program now devotes a weekly segment to provide updates on the hospitals’ tenacious efforts to battle the pandemic in the metroplex.\n\nKRLD 1080 AM serves the DFW Metroplex and North Texas with a news/talk radio format. It is a Class A station broadcasting at 50\,000 watts\, the maximum power allowed for American AM stations. It has a listening range covering a 30-county area of North Texas\, Central Texas and Oklahoma. It is also broadcast nationwide on Radio.com.\n\nOn a weekly basis\, Love (above photo\, left) works with Thomas Miller (above photo\, right)\, a broadcast journalist at KRLD\, to develop the programming.
