SUMMARY:APNA Mental Health Nursing Program
DESCRIPTION:The American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA) will be hosting a virtual “Recovery to Practice Program” on November 20\, December 4 or December 18 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.\, CDT.\n\nThere will be 8.0 Contact Hours available\, with the event facilitated by Celeste Johnson\, DNP\, APRN\, PMH CNS\, senior director at Alvarez & Marsal; Rebecca Puchkors\, MSN\, RN\, PMHN-BC\, clinical manager at UT Southwestern; and Cornelius Metili\, BSN\, RN\, intake coordinator at UT Southwestern.\n\nThe APNA Recovery to Practice (RTP) program is a 6-module course that facilitates change in psychiatric-mental health nursing practice through the discussion of recovery knowledge\, skills\, and attitudes. The program aligns with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) national initiative and The Joint Commission’s standard on patient-centered communication. It is designed as an interactive group learning activity to be facilitated by an APNA-trained program facilitator.\n\nWhile developed with psychiatric-mental health nurses in mind\, the content is appropriate for any professionals looking to integrate recovery-oriented practices in to the care they provide to persons with mental illness.\n\nYou can register here.
