The DFW Hospital Council (DFWHC) and Accenture will co-host the webinar “Texans Want Virtual Healthcare. Here’s How Providers Can Grow from It.” on Wednesday, October 14 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., CDT.
The complimentary event will examine a groundbreaking Texas survey by Accenture detailing the surprising results of telehealth usage during the COVID-19 pandemic. The survey revealed over twice as many Texans utilized telehealth for preventive care, checkups, diagnosis or treatment following the virus outbreak. In addition:
• One-fourth (25%) of Texans surveyed said they first learned about virtual healthcare following the outbreak of COVID-19;
• Approximately nine in 10 Texans (89%) surveyed believed that virtual care options should be available to everyone.
The panel discussion will include Mark Olney, Chase Parks and Laura Zhang of Accenture. DFWHC President/CEO Stephen Love will serve as host.
“The survey revealed a lot of Texans got a taste for what it’s like to see their physicians and specialists from the safety and comfort of their home,” said Olney, a managing director in Accenture’s Health practice and the study’s lead author. “Now patients are eager to get more of that access, convenience and time savings.”
The study also notes that rural Texans, in particular, have much to gain from access to virtual healthcare.
“Riding the momentum in virtual care, Texas hospitals have an opportunity to play a bigger role in caring for rural communities and other underserved populations,” Olney said.
