IRVING, TX – The following Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council (DFWHC) press statement was issued today by DFWHC President and Chief Executive Officer W. Stephen Love:
“With Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas as one of 88 member hospitals of the Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council (DFWHC), we have worked collaboratively with this institution on public health and patient safety issues for more than 45 years. During this time, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas has provided excellent healthcare to the community including labor and delivery, cardiovascular and the SANE (sexual assault nurse examiners) unit for victims of assault. We support Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas in their recent efforts in treating Ebola victim Thomas Duncan.
This is the first time a Texas hospital has encountered the deadly Ebola virus. We know once this episode of care is over, the hospital will review all information and develop modifications in procedures and protocols. As Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas has productively displayed through the years, these procedures and protocols will be shared with fellow hospitals to enhance standards for the best practices in treatment. The hospitals of Dallas and Fort Worth have a long and productive history of collaboration regarding patient and employee safety. The DFWHC supports Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas, not just because of its contributions to the community since 1966, but because of its continued contributions when dealing with this most unexpected and deadly virus.”
DFWHC is an 88 hospital and 95 associate member trade organization with more than 45 years of service to North Texas healthcare. Governed by a Board of Trustees made up of hospital executive officers, the hospital trade association is committed to the continuous improvement of patient care.
