In the October 27-28 D Healthcare Daily story “Why Dallas Is Building So Many Hospitals,” Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council President/CEO W. Stephen Love offered his comments on the increased hospital construction in the metroplex. Love was interviewed by D Healthcare Editor Matt Goodman.

According to Goodman’s feature, in nearly every corner of the North Texas region new hospitals are cropping up to replace aging facilities and to meet the demands of a rapidly-growing population. Part of the boom is dictated by the aging baby boomer population, with the U.S. Census predicting 20.9 percent of Americans will be older than 65 by 2050.

“People who are older and more elderly tend to use more healthcare services because they generally have more chronic illnesses,” Love said in the article.

“Keeping up with new healthcare regulations, advances in medicine and technology, and growing demand is no easy feat,” said Love. “We are continually addressing the needs of the population in North Texas.”
